Sunday February 1, 2009 Worship set

Well, this is my first official blog entry, and I am a bit nervous. I tend to write like I think, which can be a bit scary and worse yet - difficult to follow.

I am very passionate about connecting people to God; I hope that every week at Life you have a fresh look at our Savior, scripture, or at the very least a lyric or phrase of a song that the Holy Spirit can ferment and use for spiritual fuel for the week that lies ahead. Many weeks I think that the worship team is not connecting with the congregation because we have had time to think, and reflect on the meaning of the words that we are adoring and lavishing upon our beautiful Lord - while many in the congregation are walking sort of cold turkey. I have also had several members ask me to teach a class, or to have a small group at my home throughout the week, but with everything else that goes on at Life and in life, I just don’t feel like that can work out right now. So I though I would start with a blog of ideas and lyrics that God impresses on my heart through out the week as I prepare for corporate worship on Sunday.

Hopefully we can come here and think about the Jesus Christ, the scriptures and the lyrics and we can share things that will help us all come more prepared to meet with a Holy God each Sunday.

I am sure the format of this blog will change but right now to start I will list the 7 songs for the Am Services (4 for 9:00 AM and 3 for 10:30) and I will try to add links to the lyrics that I find online. And we will see throughout the week how the Holy Spirit uses them in each of us. Please feel free to post your thoughts and ideas.

2/1/2009     9:00 AM

Happy Day” - Steve Fee

Salvation is Here” - Hillsong

Our God Saves” - Paul Baloche

Amazing Grace” - My Chains are Gone - Chris Tomlin

2/1/2009    10:30 AM

Lord Reign in Me” - Jami Smith

It Is Well” (with modern bridge) - Jason Ingram

Forever” - Chris Tomlin

Well that is both worship sets, as you can see we are moving some of our more familiar worship songs from the 9:00 AM service to the 10:30 Service. We want to keep the services distinctly different, but we want to keep the 10:30 service fresh too. Many in that service like the familiar so we progress some milder songs from 9:00 to the evening service (both AM service participants come to the evening service) then we can bring the milder more familiar songs to the 10:30 service with greater success.
